We believe that integration and participation with the wider community is an essential advancement from the dark days of segregation and isolation.  Fulfilment, equality and dignity can only be achieved when people enjoy the same normal experiences as others.

In order to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of each individual, we seek to provide inspiring and rewarding experiences for the residents of Newland Hurst.  Leisure time pursuits  include; horse-riding, shopping, swimming, attending the cinema, pubs, concerts, trips to the library and all other activities which are deemed to be 'normal'.

Of course, not everyone chooses to lead an active or hectic lifestyle and personal choice will always be respected.  However, a wide variety of opportunities are made available to those who make that choice.

When it comes to taking short breaks and summer holidays, the residents of Newland Hurst are enabled to enjoy the same positive opportuniites as anyone else.

Many different experiences have been enjoyed over the years and, through experience, we now know that some people prefer the peace and tranquility of a country cottage whilst others opt for an energetic walking holiday or an aeroplane flight to seek sun, sea and sand.

Planning and preparation of holidays is part of the fun and within reason, we will endeavour to meet the personal choice of each individual.
